Real remote work in the Alps

Kaisertal, Austria

For a week I went into the Austrian mountains. In the most beautiful valley of the country, the Kaisertal. It’s very crowded in summer but in winter empty and hardly reachable. Nevertheless, I booked a week in an inn called “BergKHof” and went there for focused and silenced work.

To reach the place I need to hike up the mountain for around 45 minutes. After that time I reached the chalet, a big house in the middle of nowhere with a beautiful view into the valley. I was the only guest there during the week. I enjoyed my time with a great breakfast and authentic Austrian dishes for dinner. To my surprise, the internet connection was one of the best I’ve every experienced and this in the middle of nowhere. They got direct fibre connection into the house the owner told me. I couldn’t ask for more to work focused at this beautiful place.

To be able to talk to some people I was searching for Couchsurfer in the area. Luckily I found some down in the valley, in Kufstein. I walked down to meet Ela and Bartek for bowling and dinner one evening. Afterwards, I hiked all the way up to my lodge in the dark. What a strange experience.
